Today I'll show you around the 612 and show you why it's such a bargain -- and I'll reveal all of the quirks and features of the 612 Scaglietti. I'm also going to drive the 612 and show you what it's like on the road.

  • Doug, only a petrol head would consider buying that car, and they wouldn't ever listen to the radio or CD player when they can listen to the engine noise instead. I have and old Porsche and in 40,000 miles of motoring have never turned on the radio. Cheers

  • Love Ferraris but because of how ostentatious a lot of newer models have become, the more laid back designs really appeal to me more. I remember seeing the 612 in media when new and did think about how ugly they seemed, but I’ve completely gone back on that. It’s elegant without being too conventional. Now, if only I was a rich man...

  • This is one of very few Ferraris that looks bad in red. Other than that, I'm a huge, huge fan. It also looks a lot better with multi-spoke, Ferrari Challenge wheels which are slightly bigger than pictured.

    Joshua StedfordJoshua StedfordPred 27 dnevi
    • @Tommyvercetty GT agreed - subtle colours make the 612 feel more luxurious, almost Bentley-esque. I did see one in a shade of metallic brown with a peanut butter interior, and it just oozed class

      Tommyvercetty GTTommyvercetty GTPred 13 dnevi
    • @Richard Boddington Better because it's newer, but i don't think it's prestigiously handcrafted with refined materials and with every single piece produced by the factory itself just for that model, and i don't think the transmission is F1 inspiered niether the engine is that unique

Of course with collector units the mileage would take a big back seat, or so I suppose. Thanks for all your work. Be happy, be safe.

  • The only Ferrari that doesn’t get pulled over simply because it’s a Ferrari, lol. Why? Because the cops don’t really see it as a Ferrari so it blends into the landscape like any other rounded off car of its time. Unless of course the cop is a real Ferrari fan, lol. It’s unfortunate but true. If there is a pack of cars with a Ferrari in there when the radar gun is monitoring the roadway, if it’s not an automatic camera and just a cop in a car, the Ferrari gets picked pretty much every time, even if sitting in the slow lane. Especially if it’s a bright color. 🤨🧐

  • This car just had a service to its brakes and belts that cost more than I paid for most of the cars I've ever owned… (Three. I've paid over $20k for three vehicles. Out of ten vehicles I've bought.) Edit: I stand corrected - the service wasn't actually $20,000, it was "only" $18,403 - so a fourth vehicle was more expensive than this.

  • I rarely get Doug's styling conclusions. Especially in this instance. This car looks really sporty but doesn't scream "OH I'M SO FAST SMALL BALLS OMFG" as bad as most fast cars - in fact, it could even lose the badging and red calipers to improve on that. In my book, classy will ALWAYS surpass sporty, especially if the experience is still reasonably sporty. Flashy sporty crazy looking cars will always have an aura of try-hard to me. Make it subtle but roar, and I'm impressed. Make it look classy and I'll salivate over it. If it's over the top, no matter the numbers, I'll assume you either have no other joys in life and/or should pay WAY more taxes than you probably do.
